Hi Jakob, Could you please translate the memorial stone for me? Cheers Geoff I meant to but completely forgot It says: Here rests an unknown English airman who in 1944 sacrificed his life for his country and for the freedom of Denmark. "In the hands of the Lord is the life of every creature." Job 12.10 Residents of Vorupør erected this memorial in profound gratitude to him and his brave brothers in arms.

Hi Jakob, A little about Squadron Leader Allan Farrington of 211sq. Many Thanks Lynne Marsden Daughter of Ray Morris Hello Lynne and welcome I can provide a link which describes the courageous task your uncle and his friends were involved in. We are forever grateful for their deed. Here's a bit from the homepage: "Having laid mines in Kattegat on the night before 13 March, 1945 a Lancaster was on the return flight to England. However, it was very suddenly attacked by a German night fighter over West Jutland and it caught fire. 5 of the 7 members of the crew managed to bail out with their parachutes, while the two gunners, D. Morris and H.J. Porter, were still sitting in the plane, when it burning crashed in Svend Jensen´s field in Østergårde." Tarm - About the British War Graves Out of all the graves I have visited there was really something amazingly beautiful and peaceful about this place. Hope the information will help you. Jakob
Hi Geoff First off, a new photo from Hune, F/O H.J. Brock. Have you had contact with Thor from this forum? Thor and I have talked a bit and he would like to help out with the photos. However due to our place of residence we will probably not be able to reach all of the destinations. Thor has taken the time to contact Anders Straarup who is the owner of Allied Airmen - Allierede flyvere 1939-45 DK, which contains pictures of various graves in Denmark and Anders has granted that we may use his photos. I will still be visiting Aarestrup and Aabenraa and Thor will be visiting Faaborg and Svendborg and photograph the graves there. Jakob
Hi Jakob, Thank you very much for the work on my behalf. I had not spoken to Thor as I had been really time poor for a period. Thank you for the information and will see what I can glean from Anders site. Cheers Geoff

Chaps, I've received a complaint about a post on this thread, the gent concerned has a good point: I don't mind people referring to my 211 Squadron website - that's what it a website is for, after all. What I do object to, and in the strongest terms, is the lifting of images and text from my site without proper acknowledgement and attribution. The whole point of Internet reference material is to help other people researching history, not to make research more difficult by simply copying other people's work and presenting it as if it were your own. 211 squadron website - No. 211 Squadron RAF Can we all please remember that straight cut & paste isn't acceptable, & is a bit disrespectful to the chaps that were kind enough to share the info on their websites in the first place. I don't think anyone does it maliciously, but it is embarrassing when it happens, and unnecessary. As we can see this chap would have been fine (as are most site-owners) if a proper link was given A small quote & a link almost always suffices. At the very least - always quote a source. Cheers, Adam.
