There are 8 RAAF deaths recorded in China-Hong Kong. If anyone is able to take photos of these headstones or knows anybody that can, please let me know. These eight now completed. See post 33 for another found in research. Cheers Geoff These are the cemeteries: SAI WAN WAR CEMETERY (another found later in research and still outstanding). STANLEY MILITARY CEMETERY

Hi, I have just joined the site - I am currently in Hong Kong and will be for some months. If your photo task has not yet already been done by someone, I would be very happy to pop down to Stanley to take the pics if you can give me details of the chaps involved. If done no worries, but happy to do same for anyone else needing pics from Stanley or Sai Wan cemeteries. Best for '09 Graham

Hi, very happy to do so. I have not been there for a while (several years in fact ). The weather is now cool enough here for pottering about the hillsides so I will try to do in next few weeks. I will maybe wait until anyone else reacts and create a list, though. Always happy to assist anyone interested in DLI...went to uni there in early 1980s and occasionally found myself "in action" against 7LI during TA exercises...good lads Just seen your other post - will react separately to that !!
Welcome to the forum Graham. Thank you for the offer of taking/arranging photos of our required headstones. My seven are RAAF at Sai Wan War Cemetery. If you are able to get them it would be great. Dear Geoff Ok can do, along with the other query for the DLI chap, so looks like I now have a suitable tasking for this quiet time during the holidays ! Haven't been up there for ages. It's cool here currently which makes rummaging about up hills much more bearable. Do you need any particular style of photo ?? Let me have the details of your Stanley chap, too, for next time I am there. Graham
Hi Graham, A full shot similar to this in Hi-Res! I have also attached a very interesting site that I came across in my research. (I will place it in a separate thread) http://www.hongkongwardiary.com/searchgarrison/britishinfantry.html Omitted to put in the Stanley requirement. JACKSON, RONALD CHARLES Leading Aircraftman 992747 28/12/1943 1. A. 9. STANLEY MILITARY CEMETERY Hong Kong POW JACKSON, RONALD CHARLES Leading Aircraftman Captured at the fall of Hong Kong, and died as a POW there (TB). Was based at RAF Kai Tak, but not known if he was with any particular unit.

Roger Yes, know of that site...it and several others about HK are done by chap called Tony Banham, who I have not met but is basically the "guru" on all matters relating to the 1941 battles and related HK WW2 matters. Some fantastic research on that site, and great books.
There you go Verrieres PM me if you need me to email the bigger file (c. 1.5Mb ) Apols it is sideways, for some unknown reason it stays on its side when I upload it, despite flipping it in my photo software, but sure you can fix it !
Hi Spidge here you go PM me if you need the big files by email (about 1.5 MB each). Apols some are "on their side", despite me turning them in my photo software don't understand but sure you can flip them in due course... View attachment 15277
Fantastic shots Graham. I really appreciate the effort. The cemetery seems to have the "Pagoda" look.
