Cheers Geoff, I've emailed my brother and he is going to try and help. No offence to you chaps down under but I'm surprised that there aren't any already on the net considering your countries patriotism. Regards Andy
After scouring the internet I found the website for the 'Returned servicemen's league of Australia'.I contacted them and they very very kindly sent me a photo of my Uncle 's WW1 grave in West Terrace Military cemetery Adelaide. I didn't have to give any proof that I was a relation . Perhaps they may be able to help? Regards Gill
VC's A picture of Richard Been Stannard Headstone. Rookwood Crematorium, Sydney, Australia. A picture of Sir Roden Cutler's Headstone. South Head Cemetery, Vaucluse, Sydney, Australia. Photo's of the Headstones and a general shot of the cemetery please. If any have been cremated a shot of a plaque or an entry in a book of rememberance if applicable Many thanks Andy Andy - I will be in Sydney for a couple of days doing some photography, I plan on getting to South Head Cemetery & Rookwood. Regarding Stannard, I was trying to work out where to find his grave (Rookwood is a massive cemetery complex) and from what I can see he was cremated at the Rookwood Crematorium and his ashes are interred in the New South Wales Garden of Remembrance. I would say that the plaque seen on the Find A Grave site will be his only grave marker and that there is no headstone. I will confirm this when I am there.
Now I have got my act together I wonder if anyone is able to assist with pictures from the following cemeteries. Pictures of the headstones and a few general views of the cemetery would be appreciated. Cheers Andy I am still showing that you are after - A picture of Frank John Partridge's Headstone. Macksville Cemetery, New South Wales, Australia
I am still showing that someone is after - A picture of Frank John Partridge's Headstone. Macksville Cemetery, New South Wales, Australia Macksville General Cemetery Address: Wallace Street, Macksville 2447 NSW Macksville General Cemetery is a monumental cemetery comprised of Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Seventh Day Adventist portions that are all clearly signposted. A columbarium has been added, probably in the 1990s, although there a several memorial plaques of much earlier date. The cemetery was photographed and listed by Sandra Cockbain in March 2010. She found the grounds in excellent condition, with lawns cut and grass trimmed around each grave. Although there are several fallen stones, the monuments are generally in good condition and the inscriptions legible. Sandra's images may be viewed from the list of all inscriptions for this cemetery. In compiling the list, we referred to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information. How to find it Wallace street runs west off Cooper Street (Pacific Highway) in the central business district of Macksville. Follow it for 1.8km to the cemetery on the left hand (eastern) side of the street. Lat -30.717246 Long 152.914837
