Now I have got my act together I wonder if anyone is able to assist with pictures from the following cemeteries. Newcastle (Sandgate) New South Wales E C 3 Govett VX29955 AIF 14/10/1943 E C 4 Smith VX44388 AIF 14/10/1943 Regards Andy Hi Andy, These guys enlisted in Victoria by the VX. Any particular association besides being in the 1st Australian Para Batt? I have 49 RAAF burials in Newcastle (Sandgate) myself that I cannot get to. Newcastle is in New South Wales on the coast north of Sydney and over 1,000 kms from my place in Melbourne. Same distance as from Plymouth to Scapa Flow. Cheers Geoff
Not that I am aware of, I came across their names in a War Diary some years ago and as they are Parachutists, come into the same spehere as all the others! As far as I can recall they died in the same incident. Only 1000kms away! Regards Andy
There are 2,369 RAAF/WRAAF listed in cemeteries and memorials around Australia. If you can take photos, or know of anyone who can, please let me know and I will provide details of cemeteries near you. Cheers Geoff Cemeteries: 214

Hi Andy, Leonard Trent will be found at: North Shore Crematorium, Auckland, New Zealand. Delete Fremantle Cemetery and Australia. --------------------------------------------------------------- I had a chap that sent me photos from Rookwood last week. I will ask if he is going back again. --------------------------------------------------------------- Recce Mitch may be able to oblige with the Karrakatta requirements. --------------------------------------------------------------- One of us might be able to contact the local RSL for Leslie Thomas Starcevich ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ditto above for Frank Partridge ------------------------------ Cheers Geoff
Andy,Are you sure about Hugh Edwards. I found this on The Remembrance Driveway - A Living Memorial Hughie EDWARDS was born at Fremantle, Western Australia, on 1 August 1914. He died in Sydney on 5 August 1982 and was buried in the Northern Suburbs Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales. Also there seems to be more VC winners commerated at Karrakatta. Will ring cemetery Monday arvo and ask for details. Cheers Paul
Paul I got the info from here: VC BURIALS - AUSTRALIA - WESTERN AUSTRALIA It suggests he was cremated in Sydney but has a headstone in Perth. A part from the ones listed I have already posted the headstone pictures of all the WW2 Australian VC's on here. Regards Andy
Andy, Did one better and I went to cemetery instead of ringing a very helpful lady led me to Sir Hughies grave. His is not listed under his own name rather he is buried in the family grave and that is why he is so hard to find. He is also officially remembered in the Garden of rememberance. I also have Gordons burial site. PM me with your EMail. Pics are 2-3 megs in size. Cheers Paul

They were aswered and passed on however no news as yet. Partridge and the two Cowra lads. If no luck I will try some local places on the internet - I might get lucky.
Cheers Spidge, I've searched everywhere I can think off for them - I'm quite surprised as I would have thought they were all well photographed knowing how patriotic Australians are. Andy

Bump The two in Sydney I have no hope of getting in the near future unless I can get somebody living up there interested. Starcevich in Esperance is a difficult one also. Right on the southern Indian Ocean about 900kms from Recce Mitch in Perth and 3,000kms from Melbourne. The two Cowra's and Frank Partridge from Macksville are proving fruitless although I have tried everything I can think of. We will continue............................. Cheers Geoff
