I'm back. you're too late old chap started a trip report here going to take me a week to sort it all out. so far I've only done last Sunday morning http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/ww2-battlefields-today/30116-normandy-trip-october-2010-a.html
Owen thanks for the photos, another cemetery finished. My ROH covers attached personnel hence the REME headstone. Cheers Paul
I am hoping to make the trip over to Hermanville next month to visit my uncle who died on the beach - Harry Kelly 2nd Bn East Yorks - just need to find the war graves commission photo I have somewhere. Am finding it difficult to find more than the ROH at the moment. Will only be there for a day or 2, but am happy to photo some headstones if people still need. Will be on a bit of a tight timeline, so will only be at this cemetary. Let me know.
Hi, I have 40 of my Airborne chaps buried in this cemetery and would appreciate any pictures you might be able to manage, I do already have 11 of them but the pictures are not that good. If you can assist I would be eternally grateful, if not then no problems. Regards Andy
East Yorks from my 8th Brigade. I have a recording of the first Hermanville Church Bells to ring out over Normandy. As they were then and as they are now. Some of them were damaged but the officer told the Padre "ring them anyway" the first bells of freedom.. Cheers sapper I also have great friends at Hermanville

Cheers sapper I also have great friends at Hermanville Were they ringing during the battle Sapper? If there is any way to hear that recording I would be grateful. I have no details of how Uncle Harry died, not sure if there would be any record for OR's? Have the original telegram sent to my Grandparents, and the original photo of the grave. A few personal effects in there too I think such as paybook but not sure if there is anything else other than some photos of him in India before the war, though I'm not sure if he was with 2 East Yorks then?!? Sadly, my father died some time ago before I realised how difficult and important this type of information would be to me and so far not much luck researching this.
Hi I have taken photo's of all the graves in Hermanville War cemetry which has quite a few East Yorks Regt Lads and some Lancs lads, my photo's are on facebook, but will try to put them on this site if it helps anyone. Do you have this Merchant Navy grave please. CAMPBELL, Ordinary Seaman, PATRICK J., M.V. Cairngorm (Glasgow). Merchant Navy. 26th July 1944. Age 19. 2. I. 14.

Regards Andy Andy Here are the photos - also took some shots of the register entries but my camera is a bit hit or miss at anything closer than a metre! Still, most are legible at varying zooms. Hope the grave pictures are ok. There is also a picture of an Unknown Airborne soldier's headstone. The cemetary itself is beautiful. A quiet corner for my uncle to rest with his comrades. We left a small memento by the grave in remembrance. My wife and I spent part of our wedding anniversary on Sword beach, the kids enjoyed that without realising the significance. Added a picture of Uncle Harry's headstone. If the pictures don't download let me know mate, can always sort another transfer.
