    Hi,

    in a war diary i found the following Acronym refered to artillery targets:

    HBs

    What is it?
    I know that the targets were guns, howitzers and AT guns.

    Thanks in advance

    Any chance you can provide the passage the acronym was contained in?
    Seeing it in context would be a help.
    Off the top of my head and since we're talking artillery could it be Heavy Battery (Batteries)?

    I think you've hit the nail on the head SJBW.
    From forum regular Philip Reinders excellent site:
    Glossary
    H.B.= Hostile Battery

    You are correct, it is indeed the abbreviation for Hostile Batteries.

    Were they map shooting from an HB List or was their fire being ranged? If so who by? Or was it a bombard?
