    Hi all,

I've been asked to post up the war diary of 3 Pz Gren Div for 30 October 1943. These two pages from T315 R173, i.e. the US captured records. There might be more in the German records which are being digitised as well.

If I can find more, I'll post up here.

    Regards

Is there Divisional history any good for this period? I'm sure I scanned the pages for another thread I started some time back? Will check. Don't ask for a link. Me and links don't work.

    Regards,
    Stu.

Thanks again,Tom, for these pages - this is a, hopefully not too ropey, translation. All corrections welcome!

In the night only slight enemy artillery harassment fire. On the south bank of the Volturno, no probing by the enemy, who still hasn’t advanced over the Vairano – Scafa di Vairano line. Also, north of the Volturno, the enemy only occupies the area 185 (4 km southwest of Pratella) and it only advances in and on both sides of the Lete valley.

The heights 660 west of Pratella, 729 northwest of Pratella, and 326 northeast of Pratella can no longer be held against a superior enemy. Position 326 was recaptured but lost again. However, two attacks on Prata from the south and northeast were repelled thanks to our own excellent artillery support: likewise, an attack of approximately Kp. (company?) strength on Gallo.

The enemy massing south of Pratella and their lively motor vehicle traffic on the partially narrow road from Alife to Pratella suffered significant casualties due to observed effective artillery fire. The enemy's advance on a broad front, particularly in the wooded mountainous terrain south of Capriata, forces further withdrawal. Thus, for the night, the retreat to the Z 6-line has been ordered, and the security in the Volturno valley will be transferred after the withdrawal of III./29 from the Schultzendorff group. The M. Cesimo block will continue to be secured by the 9./29 northeast of Prensenzano.

    Operational documents see Appendix 118.

Good morning everyone. I’m doing some research on the occupation of the Italian navy main radio station and Supermarina operational headquarters by the 3rd panzergrenadier division which happened sometimes between the 9th and the 11th of September 1943. I would be grateful if anyone could post the division war diary pages of those days. Thank you in advance for your support
