    TCS-
One entry caught my eye on 14th September '44 in the excellent diaries - "Canadian Infantry and Tanks came though " - that was probably 12RTR with the Seaforths as on that day we were lazing around on the beach at Cattolica - then next morning we heard that the 12RTR had taken a thumping near San Martino so we had to move up again to replace them still trying to get hold of the village - which was finally managed on the late evening of the 17th Septemebr - same time as a battlion of 4th Division were slaughtered under the first effort of the Artifical Moonlight - I was on my way to hospital at that point.....

Very few WW2 diaries are online except those transcribed or posted, largely by people here.

What unit(s) are you looking for?

    TCS -
If anyone is heading for that area they should note that Tomba de Pesaro has been re-named to that of "Tuvalu" - and there is a memorial to the Canadian Corps there as it was the 5th Cdn.Armoured - in a mad dash without waiting for the Perth's in support - the B.C.Dragoons captured the town for the loss of their commanding officer - who was the younger brother of the Corps Commander Chris Vokes.

The memorial only lists the 1st and 5th Cdn Divisions and omits the 21st British Tank bde - to which I took exception and had a big fight with the later Colonel McKinnon in the Vernon newspaper as he claimed that we were NOT in the Cdn Corps.....he died before the issue was resolved.....but the fact is that we were a part of the 1st Corps - but still not mentioned !

    TTC,
    Tom,
My late father commented on that action when the searchlights were used by the 4th Division for the first time in the so called Artificial Moonlight.
He was not impressed to say the least as they were well and truly stonked.

    Regards
    Tom

Can you enlarge on this layout as it is rather small to read - and while we can appreciate that there were two factions involved in the Gothic Line battles - what exactly is your question ? and how can we help ?
    Cheers

    Gothic Line - Linea Gotica
    Gothic Line - Linea Gotica

These are the 2 image where you can read better. My question is if someone have documents, diary, maps or some story of this zone. Exactly i'm searching documents about Auditore, Gemmano or other small town, but is very difficult to find them, so i'm asking to the general gothic line. Thanks all for the help
