I never understood the mess a man can make of his life, luckily his brother was of better stuff.

Although I agree that he was a completely worthless individual, by abdicating, he was able to live a "life of Riley" for the rest of his days at the expense of the British taxpayer.

I consider the present prices paid for these jewels are obscene.

The first time these artifacts were sold at auction the proceeds at least went to charity.

    This time round ?

    It's me again !

Just noticed that the current topic comes under the Forum heading of "Pre-war" and so I thought I'd show something of real value that was certainly around pre-war :)

Last Sunday I went to the birthday party of my eldest sister Esther, who just happens to be 97 years young.

Also present was another sister, Gertie, a mere 94 years young.

    Wallis's jewelry ?.................. mere baubles !

    Family ties? ................priceless !

Your Sisters look fantastic. A belated Birthday greeting to Esther. Sure you are related to these lovely ladies.;)

Could not agree more about your comment on family ties. Absolutely priceless.

As for paying such an obscene amount, the person who did so is a Moron.
