Can find very little on this chap. Died 21st September 1943. He is buried in my local churchyard St Mary and All Saints Lambourne Essex. Said to have died on "active service" but I have nothing else.
    Can anyone help please

Did you get some of that from RAFCommands forum?

    430721 - Unaccounted airmen - 21-7-1943

The Died on Active Service status typically refers to people who died of natural causes or non flying accidents. i.e. fall from bike, hit by car in blackout,

Youd be best off getting his death ceet from the England/Wales GRO.

I was wondering what your source for the CWGC date of death being wrong was? Do the cemetery record show he died in September rather than July?

Also, per your other new duplicate thread yesterday on this man, did you ever get his death certificate as recommended above?

From his service number and as declared, his service status "RAF",ie a regular,he joined the RAF as a boy after August 1919 and before January 1921.
