A few days ago i mentioned to my wife about the Vulcan bomber, she then goes on to tell me she works with one of the chaps working on it. So i asked her to find out when it was due to fly again all he would say is that it had completed the ground tests.
My other source in finding out when it is going to take off is from my Station Manager (I work for the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service) and he says that one or two of our fire engines will have to be at the airfield. Could be a free pass onto the airfield for me on test flight day. Lets Hope.

This is all I can get off the official website:

The great day of the first flight of a fully restored XH558 is now very close. As everyone knows, this has been an extremely complex project – probably unique in its extent. It has also – and perhaps inevitably – taken rather longer and proved very much more expensive than anyone could have foreseen. We at VTST have been very conscious of the debt of gratitude we owe all our loyal supporters for the faith you have placed in the project, as well as for the financial sacrifices you have all made to ensure its success.

After being delayed with a hydraulic leak during the last attempt. Avro Vulcan B2 XH558 is scheduled to fly today, for the first time in 14 years. Anybody not able to get to Bruntingthorpe airfield for 11.30 it is going to be shown live on Sky news.

    I can't wait.

She flew alright. SKY news were true to their word and cut live to Bruntingthorpe just as the nosewheel left the ground, at 12:28. Tremendous noise, what a great thing she is. Congratulations to all involved and I hope to see her on the air show circuit next year.

It was well worth the couple of hours wait to see the Vulcan back in the air, well done to all involved.

Flying isn't dangerous, nor is a fall from the sky...... it's the sudden stop at the bottom if you get it wrong that's dangerous.

Another chapter of history unknown to me from Mark Felton's brilliant channel.
