    Hello:

Let me take this time to introduce myself. My name is Marion and I recently created a site in June that is dedicated to my father and his fellow VI Corps Engineers. My father had passed away when I was 12 and all I had left were some campaign ribbons, a few photos and some patches and pins. I had tried several times in the past to accrue info on his tour of duty in the ETO from 1943-1945, but always hit a dead-end. Well, because I am very tenacious, I never gave up and began my search again in earnest this spring. Well, the pursuit paid off and in May of this year, I started receiving letters from WWII engineers and everything has been on the upswing ever since. I guess good things come to those who wait!

My father's name was Walter (Monday) Poniedzialek and he served with the 540th from 1943-1945. He started off in North Africa, landed in Sicily, took part in the Italian Campaign (Salerno, Rome, Anzio), landed in Southern France, went onto Central Europe and was at Alsace/Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and ended his tour of duty in Germany at the end of the war.

I am looking for anyone who may have knew him or was a member of the 36th, 39th or 540th Combat Engineers. They served in the European Theatre of Operations between 1942 and 1945. Family members- please contact me if you would like to share your loved one's history.

Please stop by our site, sign the guestbook and join our forum if you are so inclined. Please know that I'm also interested in any OTHER WWII combat engineer stories that aren't related to VI Corps. It is my honor to feature your memoirs and photos on my site.
