    The worst of the fighting took place between the end of WW2 and 1957. The Malayan Emergency was declared over in the middle of 1957. It is only those that served in Malaya from 1957 onwards get this medal, those that were there from 1945 to 1957 when the real hard fighting was going on will not get this medal
