    All,

I’ve just been informed via the CXX Sqn Association that Peter Clare passed away today, peacefully and with his family around him. Peter was a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Sqn Association and, only last year, received the Fellowship Award.

Peter was the proud son of the father he never knew, Sgt Billy Clare, a CXX Squadron Liberator Flight Engineer who was KIA after attacking U-256 in August 1942. A keen historian and with a lifetime dedicated to CXX Sqn history, Peter finished his book in January.

My thoughts, and those of the CXX Sqn Association, are with his wife Fay, Grandson Matt and the extended Clare family tonight.

    Endurance.

Rest in peace, Peter. I feel privileged to have followed you to some extent as you put together the story of your father's service. A job well done.
