PFC Philip Alexandria (New Briton, Conn) and Sgt. Ronald Jacques of New Hampshire adjust the 155mm howitzer to a new position and prepare to fire at a new coordinate. Both men are members of A Battery 3rd Battalion 6th Artillery.

This is a member of the 299th Engineer Battalion. He is working on a float bridge that can be dissassembled and moved to another operation.

Thanks Paul, I'm pleased you like them.

These photographs are "U.S. Army Photographs" that I acquired during my tour of Vietnam. I was not present at the taking of any of the photographs, they are just in my possession.

They have been in my closet for in excess of 40 years and I am pleased to be able to share them.

I'm not sure what is going on here but it looks like an American and Vietnamese combined ceremony.

"Smoke 'em if you got 'em" These soldiers take a break in the middle of a rice paddy. The G.I. on the right has M60 rounds around his waist and the helmet to his left has a container of mosquito repellent attached to it. The G.I. accepting the light is wearing what we called a "Boonie Hat."

Was it common to see an M16 with a bipod attached?

Jeff I never saw an M16 with a tripod. I would imagine leeches would be a problem.

The bipod came in a little bag and just clipped under the barrel by drawing the legs together, so was quickly taken on and off.

Thanks Spider. When was the bipod used? I never saw an M16 equipped with one.

It would not have been equipped, just an optional extra. Ideal for the prone position or firing from cover I would say.

At the American Depot in Qui Nhon the Korean Military Policeman on the right is writing up a DR (Delinquency Report) on a Korean Soldier who was with the truck when it was stopped by the American/Korean MP team.
