Anyone ever seen another of these, or know the story? I was given this by a lady who was cleaning out her mother's home. She knew nothing about its origin. It is 2" in diameter. It appears to be quite similar to the exterior of an appliance, ie stove or fridge. Knowing that Findlay was the manufacturer of such items, I suspect that it is their offering to the commemoration of the end of hostilities. Now, the ring at the top begs the question until I showed it to someone who suggested that it might have been used on a roller blind as a pull. Anyway, friends, here is something to muse about.
Hello, I have one of these Findlays Limited V-E DAY porcelain faced red and white meal pieces too. Would love to know more about it, please. Thank you. Hal Ottaway
I think that it is a reminder from the days when use by dates did not appear on food and one could buy little dials to hang on items in the new fangled fridge to remind cook when you could eat it
Hello Robert. Kind of you to reply with your thoughts. If this were for what you say, wouldnt you be able to turn a dial and make the calendar date a certain date? This is painted on, no moving hands, and saying 7 May 1945, which was V-E Day for Victory in Europe. We may be closer to a thought...I think we both need to "think harder." Thanks very much. Hal
