Some very interesting newspaper clippings in this group. I have stated before that I am a "Map Geek" which is one of the things that I have really enjoyed with this collection. I am not sure how information was given to the people who constructed the maps but the detail is great. I also was very surprised to see the clipping connected to the secret development of the Flying Wing for the Army in 1941. I guess at this point it was no longer a secret! 10/12/41,10/13/41,10/14/41,10/14/41,10/15/41,10/16/41&10/17/41
But, but .... the history channel says the Americans were too stupid to design a flying wing until they had access to Horton research after the war.

10/10/41,10,12/41,10/18/41&10/19/41 Thought it was interesting to read that General Udet was killed while testing a Gun?? Then seeing something about the B19 which was designated as a Heavy Bomber but never met the assembly line. The ones that were produced became transports, but I guess in 1941 they must have looked like some type of news technological monster.
Some very interesting headlines that were saved in this group. The biggest one was the Japanese envoys meeting Hull in Washington. With the attack on Pearl Harbor less than a month away you wonder what they really are thinking. The rest of the US articles seem as if we are getting ready for war. 11/20/41,11/21/41,11/23/41,11/24/41,11/27/41@11/28/41
What is interesting is that there is nothing in the book for 12/7 or 12/8? 12/9/41,12/10/41,12/11/41,12/12/41,12/13/41&12/14/41

That's a great picture of the welders working on the Normandie in New York on Jan 3. They set her on fire about a month later and that was the end of that. My grandfather took my 12 year old mother down to see her after the capsizing. New Jersey can be seen on the other side of the Hudson. This is pier 88. The USS Intrepid museum ship is just south at pier 86.
