Walter Sherwood begins clipping newspaper headlines starting as of the 1st of September, 1939 9/1/39,9/2/39&9/3/39
I never realized the British lost five fleet carriers even though I'm sure I've read about them individually over the years. Same number as the US.
It has been interesting so far in the fact that there just has been not that much been to share. I guess like that famous WW1 movie "All Quiet on the Western Front". 11/1/39,11/2/39 & 11/4/39
12/2/39 & 12/3/39 For me, the start of some great detailed maps. The headline of "Will Russia and Germany Cooperate or Clash in the North /South?" is especially interesting when you view that so many years later!
Interesting reading the tone of the coverage of the Soviet Union. Not really presenting them in the most favorable light.
How quickly that will change. I think that is what I find so interesting about reading these headlines. We have the advantage of knowing the future and in 1939 information was truly reported in the paper or on the radio
To everyone have a Happy New Year from across the pond. Hoping for a better, safer than the one we just got rid of ( I don't even want to even type the numbers anymore)! 1-6-40 & 1-8-40 I found the War at Sea page very interesting. When I started reading the small explanation it really came down to Germany and Britain trying to starve each other out? Who could get the most amount of goods to their country.
Interesting in the penultimate map of Post 17, where it is asked if the Germans will "try to outflank the Maginot Line".
