"US LST-325 was commissioned on February 1, 1943. She served in the European Theater and was part of the invasion forces at Sicily; Salerno, Italy; as well as Normandy, France for D-Day and beyond. There were 171 US LSTs during that operation. The LST-325 is the ONLY WWII-configured landing ship, tank still in operation.

The LST-325—the last fully operational WWII Landing Ship Tank (LST)—is open for tours seasonally throughout the year in her home port of Evansville, Indiana. She leaves port in the early fall to sail the nation’s inland rivers. Her crew of volunteers shares the history of these incredible vessels, the men and women who built them, and those who served on them."

(My Dad's battery, 336/102 LAA Regiment (330 Officers & Other Ranks), sailed from Tilbury and landed on Juno beach, 17 June 1944 on a Sister LST, US 336. B.S.M. Dowdall wrote about the short journey and gave a taste of life aboard this vessel. The diary stopped before arrival on the beach. It gives me goose bumps to watch this short film).
