Unloved looking plots/gravestones

    Hello Brian

    your photo with the cow parsley shows a path cut through and the rest is left to wildlife.


    A number of cemeteries operate this process with older grave areas and normally a sign is placed stating "if access is required to family plots please contact XXX"
    Re the CWGC headstone I have seen this where the grass is allowed to grow.

    The rubbish is a different issue.

    This thread got me curious, and I looked to see if there are any listed in the local cemetery back home on the CWGC website. There are apparently 20. I had no idea, and I have a lot of family buried there, it is a small cemetery. I knew there was a VC winner from the Indian Mutiny there, but I had no idea there were war dead buried there. Next time I visit, I shall see if I can find some, and see what state their graves are in.

    Thanks for the reply about being left to wild life in old cemetery,s . Think it was just seeing so much rubbish being so near war graves and after looking others that are spot less, A-email with photo,s have went to the local council.

    Got a reply straight away about the fly-tipping ,at least they will cleaning up the eye-sore,Hope they keep on top of it.
