Morning, According to the burial register of Aylesham Cemetery, Kent (attached) there were 3 Luftwaffe burials in Collective Grave P.A.3, all dated Monday 2 September 1940. Two are Feldwebel 69024/8 Lorenz Beil Obergefreiter Johann Oehl now buried in Cannock Chase German Cemetery in Block 9 Grave 6-37. Johann Oehl (1918-1940) - Find A Grave Memorial According to the headstone there is an unknown buried with them and this, according to the Aylesham Cemetery report is; Obergefrieter EM69024/19 Eisold I can find not trace of Eisold whatsever. He is presumably the third crew member but does not appear in any publications etc and is buried as 'unknown'. Can anyone shed any light on this mystery ? Regards, Graeme
Details of why Eisold name included Fw Eisold, Lost 02.09.1940. - Luftwaffe and Allied Air Forces Discussion Forum Ross
Hi Ross, Crikey, he survived, no wonder I've been struggling. Many thanks for clearing this up, Regards, Graeme
Just to be picky - some night fighter versions carried a third crew member as radar operator but obviously not in the BoB
This would seem to be relevant Who was the third man in the shot-down Messerschmitt 110? Another case of a third person in a Bf 110?
No The article puts forward no evidence to make the case for 3 on board either loss It expounds two senario but comes to no conclusion on the loss on 9th Sept 1940. do you any have new information to bring to prove Eisold on board and justfy your posts on 3 crew on Wn 3269? Ross
Graeme - went digging through the Intel k reports created at the time. Attached is S/Ldr Felkins original report detailing the meagre information recovered and confirming Peter Cornwall post I linked to. Ross
