Going by the text on the right in the sign above 'Tonight' I believe its Arabic. Unsure what the text on the left is (Persian?). He also appears to be wearing Corporal's stripes.
The left hand writing is Hindi and the other while an Arabic script is probably Urdu. NW India would be most likely but the two languages were used across India at the time. Mike
