    EDIT:
Worked it out, seems there may or may not be something on the golf course to look at

Ok i managed to get up here again today and found some more, including some bits down the way from the site, approx half a mile further up seven hills road

ok here is a map from 1961 - the bit circled in red is the area im looking at. the square areas are concrete bases for what i believe were hangers or similar based on what i found today

    map
    [IMG]

these are the bases of what i believe were hangers, the were about 30metres by about 20metres in size
    [IMG]

they had been marked out by someone that wasnt me, so someone else is looking into this site to
    [IMG]

at the corners and at regular intervals along three sides there were 4 heavily corroded bolts with a square between them, the kind that i have seen on the base of hangers at the nearby brooklands airfield and other airfields
    [IMG]

then half a mile up the road were a few more hard standings that were much larger in size
    [IMG]

and more of the hanger bases (im calling them hangers as thats what i believe thats what they were from looking at them)

as well as some very substantial cast concrete sections, these are quite large but sorry i didnt measure them oops
    [IMG]

the more and more i look at this, the more im convinced it was connected with the airfield nearby, and quite possibly a barrage balloon site

been interesting to look at, i havent found anything in the archives though hmmm

Ok this has been identified as 954 squadron balloon site for the defence of weybridge and brooklands.

I was sent this information recently

this was indeed the site for 954 Squadron RAufAX and was used for operating the balloons brought in after Eprosbungruppe 210 bombed Brooklands on the 4 September 1940. The balloons were listed as operational by 22.00 hours on 6 September 1940 and the informative balloon barrage site (bbrclub.org) lists Weybridge as having 21 balloons. Each requiring a crew of around 7 to 12 men. A Fordson tractor for each balloon and hangarage, repair and accommodation would be required. The site buildings match those on the balloon web site.

The No 2 Balloon Depot at RAF Chessington (in reality Hook) was responsible for the balloons in London and bearing in mind the A3 had not been built to motorway standard. It would not have been convenient to travel to and from Hook on a regular basis. 954 Squadron appear to have been a stand alone unit responsible for the defence of Brooklands. St Georges Hill Golf course lists individual balloons as being on the 5th, 7th and 17th greens. Site 19 was in New Haw and site 20 was at West Weybridge (now known as Byfleet and New Haw).

Most of the dispersed aircraft production was concentrated around Redhill Road in the 3 depots, the last survivor being, Depot 45, which formerly housed the Cobham Bus Museum. The museum has now moved to Brooklands and the building has been demolished for a care home to be built on the site. The style of brick for the depot are similar to the buildings in Seven Hills Road and were probably all built by the same company. Incidentally, the history of 954 Squadron lists its station as being in Cobham and Seven Hills Road is referred to as being in Cobham, although the building of the new A3M simply confuses matters by isolating this part of Cobham from the main part on the other side of the new A3M.

so thats that, im going to go back over the xmas break to see if anymore is visible now the undergrowth has died down a bit

Chessington...There are a few pics during early war days of various inspections and such at Chessington during B.O.B.

There used to be a plaque by gymnasium 6 in eightees to the past staff..Unfortunately burnt down by an RAF pyromaniac patient of the Remidial unit where I spent many a happy day getting beasted.

This site you have found would also have protected Wisley Airfield which is about the same distance away as Brooklands. Wisley was used as a take off and landing strip for Vickers later on in the war...

Wisley is still used occasionally for filming and only just recently War-Horse that Steven Speilberg has been shooting several scenes there.

Hi today I went to the site I found the main building (visible from the road) 2 air raid shelters the tanks but not all the other buildings or the wooden huts.
I then got approached by a gent who said I was trespassing I was surprised as no one on any of the many forums that Mr Ed has posted has said anything anyway took a couple of pics. Question how do I add pictures. Iain
