Why not apply for his service records

You have his name dob and death certificate all you need is £30

also if medals not claimed nok can claim them write to the medal office It’s free and they will tell you what medals were issued or if not the nok can claim

again all you need is name dob and death certificate

    Hi,

Here is the link for his service file -

Get a copy of military service records

You don’t need to have an army service number as MOD will search on full name and DOB.

Don’t pay for any “information” on internet sites. Just go to the official site. Yiu May need to return to the forum in due course for help to interpret the records.

    Good Luck.

Sure you've got the right DOB?

The record for this person is officially closed.

I've checked the original entry and that IS the recorded date.

Don't want to side track but did you know his dad served in WW1 as a Corporal in the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry Corps of Hussars...?... pm me if you want to look into that and so you can keep this thread focused on your uncle.

I would be really interested in hearing whatever you have found out about the Wiltshire Yeoman.
