    https://g.co/kgs/rQRZPD

    Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
    And everything you do
    Yeah, they were all yellow
    I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
    And it was called Yellow
So then I took my turn
Oh, what a thing to have done
    And it was all yellow
your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones
    (Ooh) turn into something beautiful
(Aah) you know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so
    I swam across
    I jumped across for you
Oh, what a thing to do
    'Cause you were all yellow
    I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh, what a thing to do
    And it was all yellow
your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones
    (Ooh) turn into something beautiful
    (Aah) and you know
For you, I'd bleed myself dry
For you, I'd bleed myself dry
    It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
    Look how they shine for-
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
    Look how they shine
    Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

I mistakenly thought that hysteria and cheerleading for war might calm down since I was last here, but truth is still the first casualty of war.

This is reality: NATO members want to flood the Ukraine with thousands of high-tech weapons, and unfortunately many will fall into the hands of neo-Nazis and other right wing extemist groups in the Ukraine armed forces. These are the same, racist nutters who spearheaded overthrow of the previous Ukraine government, with help from the U.S. state department. Do you really think these idiots will limit targets to Russian armed forces?

It's amazing that so many people have no idea what their taxes are paying for.

It's not as if widespread Nazi sentiment in the Ukraine is a new development. There was a substantial recruiting drive by Germany in World War II.

Sort of glad this came up at last. Surprised it hadn't.

Dmitri Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency. Former defence minister.

Dmitry Utkin, founder/commander of the Wagner Group, former Spetznatz commander:

    (Nice tattoos, eh?..)

    Etc. etc.
Plenty of extreme/nationalist organisations/connections with the invader here too.

The truth of it, is that there's a layer of this stuff across the former Sov Bloc. Anyone with the slightest awareness of the area has seen it.
(Even in the WW2 context - just visiting Cannock Chase shows a stone example of the Ukrainian connection back then. Though that's possibly the lowest way to imply a line of logic to a current state. I mean... Germany might have had a few Nazi issues too...)
As the smallest example, the majority of actual Neo-Nazis we've dealt with here have come from 'Slavic' IPs. (Followed by Glasgow... Which always makes me wonder if it's just the same bloke over and over.)

It's sophistry to present it as purely a Ukrainian issue.
Far from the 'Ha! Gotcha!' some think.

Does its existence mean that any country it appears in is somehow a Nazi state? No, of course it doesn't.
Does it show that the whole region has a layer of issues, historical & political, that are of an altogether more F-ed up/complicated nature than our own? Yes, probably. Including armed groups.
Does spinning it up as a reason to invade a sovereign state in any way justify that invasion? I don't believe so.

Again, there's propaganda everywhere, as ever in war.
Only mentioning one side's genuine problems is as much contributing to that propaganda as only throwing yourself behind every positive view on Twatter.
There will be a long & slimy tail from all this business. I believe many of us are fully aware of that.
'Who was the aggressor?' Remains a reasonable question in war, and in this specific instance; it was Russia that crossed borders with tanks & now shells civilian areas.

Always mirror what the Russians say. If "things are" ... they "are not"; if "things are not" ... "they are". If they threaten ... they are showing uncertainty. If they celebrate ... panick is surfacing.

In a recent story about the leader of the Azov Battalion (in Mariupol) it stated, with my emphasis in bold:

Ukraine is a relatively new democracy and still needs to iron things out. Many countries in the free world have their share of right, left and other oddball groups as we well know.
The people of Ukraine know the route to democracy is tough but that was their choice to move forward. One hopes the countries who they align with would help, guide and support them over the process.
The bottom line is putin invaded and has raised parts to dust and wants another puppet state like belarus. Stoneage ideology with smart phones. Along with russia there are other countries in the world who like to dictate on how people live. If putin gets away with this then the free world has lost. Many on this forum had family come out of WW2 with the greatest sacrifice of lost family members the lucky ones who survived came out with 5 bob and a Burtons suit to try to start a life again. That was the side of fighting for freedom.
Ukraine was on a path, that path has now been halted for the time being
putn must be removed asap and this will send a signal to the other restrictive states to mind their backs
So the suedo putin supporters and NATO blamers go and live in the strangled regimes and wait for the knock on the door if you dare to disagree with an ex kgb operative. Or stay in the free west where to can have a go at your PM/President and call him or her names if you like without having the poker treatment.

putin is killing civilians which is what he does best and the only option for him and his cronies is defeat

    Leave Ukraine
    Pay to rebuild
    Stand as war criminals
Bring russia into a free world

Back to that vital factor, logistics and in particular the sue of trucks to carry artillery ammunition. See Trent Telenko @TrentTelenko and multiple tweets today, with some imagery. His summary:

    Is it, though?
Launched/docked on the 18th of March.
Russian Flags also part of the design.
Seems entirely possible it was intended to celebrate the anticipated glorious return of Ukraine to the Russian fold, and represents a rather spectacular propaganda backfire.
(Reading space-nerds: everything is pre-packed long before, and even coveralls not easy to change & approved at multiple levels).

The varying excuses given for the colours (Lots of material, Uni colours, Regional colours of the three chaps) are enough to make one go 'hmmm'.
Reporting of it has been peculiar

Spare a thought for the septic & euro chaps on the ISS at the mo.
    Awkward...

Most historians agree that the medieval symbol was not intended as depicting a trident, but rather, was a symbol of the Holy Trinity;[4] it also was most likely a stylized falcon. Depictions of a flying falcon with a Christian cross above its head have been found in Old Ladoga, the first seat of the Kievan Rurik dynasty,[5] of Scandinavian lineage.[6] Such a falcon, along with a cross are also featured on the coins of Olaf Guthfrithsson, a Viking king of Dublin and Northumbria.[5] Falconry for centuries has been a royal sport in Europe. The gyrfalcon (known also as Norwegian falcon) was considered a royal bird and is mentioned (ukr.: рарог) in one of the earliest epics of Ruthenia, the 12th century poem The Tale of Ihor's Campaign.
Later images of the trident ("tryzub") among the Rurikids resemble more a bident or the letter "У", which also in the modern Cyrillic alphabet denotes the sound "u" as in "Ukraine" (though the Cyrillic alphabet at the time did not have such a letter, using the digraph OѴ/Ѹ or its monogram Ꙋ instead).

The Russian Air Force is now firing hypersonic missiles....
Whatever was hit with the missile: The drone images of the Russian side show a farm in eastern Ukraine (The geolocation community on the net is really on their toes) Well, there will be a crater somewhere. (Kinda reminds me a bit of the V-2 wonder weapon as game-changer).
Could be because the Iskander are slowly running out.

Writing this, Tochka missile systems are now being unloaded in Belarus - ancient remnants of the Soviet era that were mothballed years ago during the modernization of the Russian army to, errrr...current standards

    Otherwise:
Bombers take off in Belarus, circle there, fire their cruise missiles, land, ammo up, start again..... I would like to see the fuel bill
The frontline aircraft drop conventional free-fall bombs into urban areas, the helicopters fire FFAR in ballistic curves instead of direct fire...Air superiority at it's finest

By the way: The spectacular casualty lists at Stijn "Oryx" Mitzer show only the material side. Far more remarkable are the losses of staff officers who are almost absurdly high. Speculation is flourishing here. However, there are growing indications that this caused by a completely dysfunctional OpSec on the one hand and state-of-the-art Intel on the other.

Looking privately and noncommittally into the crystal ball, Putin might want to start thinking about whether his loyal allies in Beijing might eventually get the idea that Siberia might be easier to digest than Taiwan....

Intriguing articles which provide very plausible theories for China’s apparent lack of interest in supporting Putin. That’s the trouble with war, once started you are at the whim of unintended consequences, over which you have little or no control.
