We have not directly mentioned this but i feel we must offer support to the Ukrainian people.

I know politics are not allowed (I am the first to cause issues with this I know) this is war.
But we will not mention the name of the aggressor because that gives them the high ground.

All our thoughts are with the country of Ukraine and the brave people.

Please use this thread to offer support to the people of Ukraine.

I know these are only words but at the moment that is all we have.

This is a terrible situation which I feel most of us thought had been consigned to the bin of history
    thank you

How could Europe be so naïve.
Particularly the countries who suffered the land war of 1939-1944.

"I shall never forget the things I have seen and
heard – and never cease to thank God that our own country was spared the
passage of modern land warfare. We shall have a grave and terrible
responsibility for rebuilding after all this – and the responsibility cannot be
shirked on account of old animosities and differences. It’s a direct Christian
human responsibility on everyone. I know for myself I am sure that I shall
never be able to settle down to enjoying my own life unless I can feel that
everything is being done for Europe".

Written by a soldier who died in Italy, 1944.

I spend too much time looking at photographs showing the aftermath of Blitzkrieg in 1940. The images that we're seeing now are horribly reminiscent...the damaged and burned bodies and objects out of context. It's unbelievable that some of those in power can still find this sort of thing acceptable for political ends.

I feel some sadness and anxiety. I am reminded of our Winter War and my own military training almost 50 years ago, we were trained to fight against “strong tank heavy mechanized forces” with A/T mines, RPGs and LAWs and if nothing else helps move into guerrilla warfare.
I wish all the best and endurance to the Ukrainians.

I had a telcon with my colleagues in Ukraine yesterday which was interrupted because they had to seek shelter.

This is utter madness. As you note, nothing to do with politics anymore. There's a right side and a wrong side here, and people can choose which one they want to be on.

    All the best

I was looking for an emoji... "anger" would be suitable, "utter sadness" even more so... couldn't find it, unfortunately.

It's all very well to say we stand with Ukraine and so forth, but talk is cheap. Send troops.

Thinking back on this the Ukrainian people are East Slavs the same as the attackers.
The attackers must remember history whereby the East Slavs did not give up and fought ferociously against the then attacker.

You can say that, but the whole of Europe will then be the front line...Will it help the Ukranians if Vlad the Invader chooses for Mutually Assured Destruction ?

September 1939 / February 2022 history repeats itself.

Russia has now warned Finland and Sweden, two more countries that border Russia.

My thoughts are with the brave people of Ukraine.

The ACW was supposed to be over in two weeks. Both sides made that boast.

I know a lad from Belarus who works with me some times, i phoned him mid week and asked his thoughts on the invasion .His reply was it’s worse than what’s on the news and any one speaks out goes to Jail simple as that it’s simple as that . He can’t go home and a lot of his friends have gone to Poland before this war had started.

CL1 - Good of you. I think this is where your (grand)fathers stood for during the last war and would stand for again if they could.
