I'd be grateful if someone could say where REME had its holding battalions in early 1944 (I believe that there was more than one) and also where was Western Command Static Workshop in the same time frame?

Unfortunately not, these are all overseas, Western Command was in UK, the Home Forces ones don't appear to have diaries. Thanks anyway.

My query was placed in response to Nellypook's identical earlier plea for help on another forum. I was not aware that they had posted here a little later but equally they were unaware that, although I said I would enquire on another forum, I would be posting here. I have see their other thread and the various responses and am I touch with Nellypooks privately now. I am fully aware of other avenues if no one here has the answer.
