One might think Erdogan sees benefit for his upcoming referendum in being depicted as a leader struggling against enemies in all quarters. One might think Erdogan is quite prepared to play any sort of game that he thinks could boost his local vote, and hang the international consequences. One might think Erdogan is only interested in the potential upcoming consolidation of Turkish power into his hands and nobody else's. Cynicism. It's a bugger, but it's often follows quite logical lines.
Somehow I don't think that those two items are a fair trade-off. Trade them uncomfortable looking wooden shoes in for some Dutch Masters cigars or something. That sammich looks pretty good though!
