I'm not a big fan of unrestricted handguns in any event but we only have approx. 190 total deaths by firearms in this country every year. There are more stabbing deaths annually so is the government planning to also confiscate and regulate my steak knives?

Take away the gang activity in the major cities and what issue is really left to deal with?

We have 2,900 road fatalities every year so, statistically, your gun owning neighbour is much less a threat than the idiots we give drivers licences to.

We need to have that coffee soon and have a face to face chat on this subject. I promise to come unarmed!!

True words. Once you get past the gang warfare, the murder rate is miniscule. Probably the same in most countries including the U.S.

If you go stirring $hit anywhere, you can have this happen to you. I think I'll visit Liverpool and write something disparaging about the Beatles on my vehicle and see if I get rocks thrown me. Or better yet, go to the south side of Chicago and bad mouth MLK. No wait, I would really get killed there.

Here is my youngest at a skeet shoot at my church, with a 20g. She is not a good shot, yet. I don't have a pic of my eldest daughter at the same event, but I did make a video of her laying waste to the clays. It is on my Facebook page.

My best buddy called me this afternoon as he and his 14 yo daughter were headed to the range to shoot some clays.

Firearm ownership is the norm where I live, we just don't go around shooting each other. As I have mentioned before, a full 50% of all murders in this nation are committed by a easily defined 6% of the US population. Actually, it is the younger segment of this group. You can find info on the DoJ site. Take out the murders by this group (on themselves, mind you) and the US murder rate would be on par with most of Western Europe.
Probably won't have to much problem with the boyfriends now.

Why not? Since I'm going into competition shooting, I figured "why not".

 

whats the competition? Who can get the biggest grouping?

I would have thought if you was planning on doing competition shooting you would have been better off starting with a target rifle (no bipod - thats cheating) and putting the principles of marksmanship into practise, your grouping could do with some work even though you didn't hit the civvie-either you was shooting with a pistol, from the hip or on a 400 meter range with that Carbine.

After I fired a AK47 and a AKM on a range in Bosnia it all became clear why a chap could hit me in Basrah with one doing a Beruit unload.They are the worst assault rifles I've ever fired and he would have stood a better chance of hitting me with a dart thrown from his hand.

I dunno how much gatts go for in the States but I would have looked at a HK if you wanted an assault rifle. Certainly the best I've ever fired and you can't fault German manufacturing - Look at their cars

 

The standards of the AK vary depending on where manufactured - Lady P's seems to have been heavily modded - plus the AK is literally soldier proof!
