To the forum; The Royal Canadian Hussars Association has been contacted by a Dutch historian to determine if Lt. A.F. Harris of the 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars ( 7th Recce Regiment, 3rd Canadian Division) is still alive. Failing that, would any of his family be available to commemorate the liberation of a Dutch village in April of 1945. We think Arthur Frederick Harris was born on May 6, 1919 in Oshawa Ontario Canada. He was one of 3 children born to Henry and Mercy Harris. His parents came to Canada from Ireland. Lt. A.F. Harris was a replacement officer with 7th Recce. Would anyone be able to assist finding Harris or his next of kin? Would Ancestry be deployed to assist? Many thanks in advance for any and all help.

TD I think that stand for touchdown! Many thanks for this. It will start to open the door to locate next of kin.
Thanks to TD for starting to nudge that door open a wee bit. Dryan67 joined in and we now have next of kin to contact to help the Dutch historian commemorate the liberation of the town. David, many thanks again.
To tell the complete story. We located the children of Lt. Harris. A zoom call took place with the executive of the Royal Canadian Hussars and the 3 children of Lt. Harris. The children ( all baby boomers ) were very appreciative of our efforts. War records have been ordered from LAC by an Ottawa based researcher. Thanks to Klambie for that contact. Thanks to forum members Tricky Dicky and Dryan67 for their help along the way.
