Hi, my grandfather Lt HDD O'Neill joined up in 1940 and served with various LAA Regt's until Joining 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles in Jan 1944 in Hawick. He saw service with them from DDAY right up until Bremen in 1945 and was discharged in 1946, wounded twice in that time. Can anyone identify the photos attached, places, people, regiments, dates? I've tried but failed except for the markings on the Jeep, not sure what the lamp mod' on the front is though. My grandfather has the x above his head on the group photo. Any help appreciated. Thanks P.S. new to this site so hope I've done this right. [IMG]

I can see 'em in both posts.

Mildly peculiar Jeep modifications seem to have been pretty widespread once the war slowed down/stopped.
That pattern of extemporised hard top seems to have been almost standardised. The wheels quite often got closed in like that to damp down splash. Presumably the extra headlight is just another advancement of making them more useful for peace.

Thanks Von Poop, that was my thought. He was put into HQ Defence Platoon 1 corp just before the attack on Bremen and I think the Jeep is liveried 1 corp
