Looking for information about my father Percy Ambrose who served with 45th Recce in Burma. I have a map of Burma on an orange silk scarf. My Dad was 90 when he died in 2005 and never talked of his time in Burma. As a younger person my interest was limited but now I find myself desperate to know more about his service history. What I do know is that he was just over 7 stone at he end of the campaign and was hospitalised for 6 months before coming back to the uk. There was also a story that my Dad's CO was killed and Dad led other personnel out of the jungle through the Japanese lines back to allied held positions. Wondered whether there was any record of this. Thank you

    Hi Julian

If you haven't then I would suggest obtaining his service records from the only source and thats via this link - Request records of deceased service personnel once you have them you will know what units he served with and when, with those details [the official starting point] the bones can be fleshed out with the aid of other members and War Diaries

    Hi Julian,

TD has given you the best advice, especially as you have your father's Army number already. We have had a few family enquiries on the forum in regards the 45 Recce in Burma, see this thread:
