my uncle was in the regiment & is buried in a Libyan cemetery having died in 1942 so I am assuming they were in N Africa around that time

It's No 5 Battery, 2nd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment. It was part of the Royal Artillery

There is an earlier thread on this forum about this unit in North Africa you may find useful:
2nd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment R.A.

'' 5th Battery - 2nd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment ""- probably died during the retreat from El Agaila to El Alamein (operation Crusader )in the June of 1942 so

there is no need to assume they were in Lybia and NOT North Africa at the time - a name of the cemetery as there were many of them - with name and

date of death we can expand your knowledge…NORTH AFRICA consists of Morocco - Algeria - Tunisia……..

    Cheers

Bear in mind that in WW2 batteries were uniquely numbered by type. Ie there was only one 5 LAA Bty, one 5 Field Bty, etc.
