What an effort. Hats off to the little fella with the big heart. Tour de France: Mark Cavendish claims record-breaking 35th stage win Kind regards, unclipped, always, Jim.
Hah bugger spoiler alert just sat down to watch the highlights and stupidly opened this thread silly me doh !!!
A competitor - Tom Pidcock - at 106.6 km per hour clocked yesterday. Frightening, even with disc brakes. Later Edit Going uphill at 27.1 km per hour average : I rode my Brompton up a hill on Tuesday and a woman walking with a dog kept pace with me ! ( Slippery, just stopped drizzling, loaded down with a newspaper.) ( Definitely not wearing lycra.) Official website of Tour de France 2024 "As the race got to Briançon and the ascent of the Galibier, Tom Pidcock reminded everyone how fast he can be on downhills as he hit the top speed recorded by the NTT Data trackers so far in the Tour de France 2024: 106.6 km/h, at km 84." "50'47'': Pogacar smashes the Galibier, up and down With UAE Team Emirates setting a blazing pace until he pounced over the top, Tadej Pogacar tamed the ascent to the Col du Galibier with an average of 27.1 km/h, which represents a time of 50’47’’, faster than the Strava KOM set by Thibaut Pinot during the Tour 2019 (52’46’’). With his speeds tracked by NTT Data, the Slovenian star also impressed on the way down, to gain 30’’ on Jonas Vingegaard from the summit to the finish. Pogacar averaged 63.7 km/h on the downhill, with a top speed of 89.2 km/h. Vingegaard did 62.0km/h and 84.6km/h."
Apologies Deacs, sorry! Didn't give it a thought, dotage maybe. Watched the coverage live today; couldn't believe he'd won the stage, and even though I knew the result it was still a lump in the throat moment watching the highlights! Again, sorry for giving the result away. Kind regards, always, Jim.
Don't worry about it Jim I did it the other day aswell clicked on the news before I sat down to watch the highlights and again saw the result
An ex-workmate is over there with his cycling club following the Tour. There are some great photos on FB but as they not public I can't share a link. Does seem too much like hard work going up those mountains.
Another years beasting done. Congratulations to a worthy winner. Kind regards, and here's to many more, always, Jim. Tour de France 2024: Tadej Pogacar wins third title with time trial victory
And the sprint legend bows out - maybe. Kind regards, clip in, always, Jim. Mark Cavendish: Briton says Tour de France 'likely' to be his last ever race
We were young once....... I don't mind admitting that when this news first broke way back when it upset me greatly. BBC World Service - Witness History, Tour de France Tragedy Jim.
Hi Jim once again another thrilling tour they are just getting better and better for me. When you think that Vinegard only had a month and half preparation because of his crash at Easter how close the race for the title could have been excellent. Regards Mike.
The 1st "Lille" (and so much more) stage was excellent Dave. A great watch. So many places visited way back when (not on a pushbike!) Great to see them again. Kind regards, always, Jim.
