Ah but suggesting something on line - that smacks of the thought police - Big Brother 2011 - Chairman Dave is Watching You! - but people here are commenting on the differential in sentencing - of MPs who have defrauded the Country while in a position of trust and other serious (but non-rioting) offenders being treated much more leniently when their crimes are deemed to be just as bad by the public mainstream.

Its the intention that matters-What if someone was planning to bomb and aircraft but they were stopped before the got a bomb? I remember learning Case Law and some drug dealers were arrested for importing Cocaine into the UK-Test proved it to be a white powder, it was Talc or something else-I can't remember now but it wasn't illegal. The defence argued that they hadn't broken any law but it was proved that they didn't know it was Cocaine (They had been done by their suppliers) and were found guilty and sent to jail. Its called Mens Rea (Guilty Mind) and at least one of the Facebookers turned up to where he wanted the riot to start.
it is the intention, Andy is correct, but I'd add another word. Incitement. To riot. Sadly, I think we're going to see a ton of these convictions be turned over on appeal... One in every four arrested person was a 'known to police' member of a notorious street gang. I dont understand why we cant apply terror legislation to these people. In one way, they are terrorists and if Gordon Brown can threaten Iceland with terrorism laws after the banking crisis, I dont see why we cant apply it to these little sh!ts... They used it in New York last year Why gangs should be prosecuted under anti-terrorism laws ...and while we're at it, I'd like to add fookers like this to the list! This has been happening around here for about a year now, and no one ever seems to appear in court!!! GRRRRRR! Such charming people, of course they don't deserve solid sentences, I s'pect it's all because of society or sumfing... I stick with what I said in my first post that they are scum. Running in packs and scaring the s**t out of the normal citizen on the street. Some of these local citizens will be traumatised for years to come. The goody goodies who oppose the sentencing would change their tune if it was their daughter or son who was caught up in it and assaulted by these loons. Better the Police are enabled to put this rioting down and get these oxygen thieves off the streets for a while as a vigilante society will be much worse.
I dont understand why we cant apply terror legislation to these people. There was talk here in Aus with regards to charging people who light bushfires, per Black Saturday in 2009, which quickly died down because of voiding Insurance policies. Could that be the reason for not charging them as terrorists??
I see now people are starting to complain that the sentences are too harsh-Two idiots were sentenced to 4 years each for trying to start a riot via Facebook in Warrington. Facebook riot calls earn men four-year jail terms amid sentencing outcry | UK news | The Guardian Drew, those 2 must be pretty dirty on themselves, incitement to riot & no one turned up. LMAO It's a bit like drag racing a car off at the lights only to find the vehicle was an unmarked police car. regards Simon
Has anyone seen the footage of the chap on the M/bike/Scooter getting dragged off his bike and then someone riding off on it? I think it happened in Croydon-I only caught a glimpse of it last night on the news.
Yep - think the courts will be busy for years as people go through the video and CTTV footage - though with cuts in the 'back-office' for the police some may be getting their old age pensions before the early morning knock.
