I have just finished giving the kubelwagen its first coat of undercoat primer as I needed a nice day to spray it outside.

Nice and sunny here this morning and so I took the plunge.

I will wait 24 hours and see how it looks, one slight blemish on the bonnet which will be rubbed out, but so far so good.

    Regards

    Tom

I think... If I had a Kubel in that scale, it would just have to be radio controlled.
Then I could 'invade' the cat (myself and him are currently in a state of war over 3 lbs of Beef liberated by the foul creature in a daring midnight raid).

What's the final scheme to be Tom?
Dunkelgelb? 3-colour? Captured by Tommy Atkins? or the rather more difficult (in my opinion) Dark Grey?
Very tempted by these 1/6th kits, they're making me look sideways at a Tamiya 1/16th Kubel I never finished

    Adam,

I decided to paint it three colour camouflage favoured by the Werhmacht and SS in the later stages. Dunkel Gelb/Sand base, with Dunkel Erde (Dark Earth) and Rot Erde (Red Earth) oversprays.

I have to say Grey was the easier option for me as it is just the one colour and then perhaps a little weathering with a dry brush.

In the end I thought I would go for the same scheme as the Halftrack.

Its amazing just how much paint these things take!

    Keep you posted of developments.

    Regards
    Tom

Just returned from purchasing the base Sand colour spray and Revell airbrush paints for the camouflage effect.

Hopefully should look ok when finished and with some passengers.

    Only when it looks good!:D

Too cold and windy this morning, so must wait for a little sun and no wind before I start spraying again.

    Kev,
If the weather is up to it this week I will try and get the base sand colour on.
No chance today, too cold, wet and windy!

    Paul,

I hope it turns out as expected.

My computer is having seroious problems like switching off when I am in full flow!

This is my second attempt at this message and I am currently using Anjas computer.

If I have to post photos on this computer I will have to programme it, so there may be delays.

    Regards

I must say they are not out of the box, not that I'm collecting them I just find the webbing too hard to put together

I started spraying this afternoon and then the wind blew up, so it was a little challenging to say the least.

I used a whole can and still need to apply a little more, but here are todays result.:(

    Andy,
No spray on the drive, I use a small plant table about 2.5 feet tall and 2 feet diameter and drop a bin liner over the top!

Then spray the subject. Result is a little spray on the binliner and non on the drive.

I took the other photos when the kubelwagen was drying in the sun.:D

    Regards
    Tom
