And my question is, do the 49th Division insignia have press-studs on the reverse, or are they just sewn on types?

I paid £5 for the lot from a house clearance guy, they have got to be worth that,

What an incredible find! In August 1944 56th (independent) Infantry Brigade became part of 49th West Riding (Polar bear) Division. Their badge was cut down and worn below Polar bear badge (see photos below). If you ever want to part with a set please let me know! 56 inf bde.jpg essex.jpg

Was the blue / white backing for the Signals badge intended for use on the GS cap ? Quite unusual, I think but it looks pukka.

Not so good on badge backings but convinced badge and backing again are 100% original and belong together. Possibly worn with general service cap. I will see if I can find photos in some books I have...

Amazing find. Unusual now to get anything like this. Think you have done very well. If you are selling any of the shinx badges let me know...

Hmmmm... couldn't find any illustrations of your badge backing, not on internet and not in some books I looked through. Still absolutely convinced it is original to badge and was probably worn on a GS cap. When at some point I do find a photo I will make sure to post it.
