  4. Please give Richard our regards from, Family Bussink and Rijks from Dinxperlo Holland.
We met in 2010 during the anni-4/5th of May at the Church in Dinxperlo. We are close friends to the Family of Dennis Hall and our Unkle Jan Wissing from Culmstock.
Dennis is my Fathers WWII Mate they met at the 30th of March 1945 in the Town of Dinxperlo, my father had just beating up a German Fallschirmjäger as Dennis came around the corner of Grandpa's Croucery. They are still the best friends from that time on.

I'm looking for War Diaries of the 51st Highland Division for March 1945.

    Anyone?

You will find one in the Public Record Office at Kew, London, England.
There is another interesting record in
A History of the 1st Battalion, 1939-1945 by Brig John Adam Hopwood. (BWRA 0727)

Just a reminder to anyone in the North Essex area that at Marks Hall tomorrow there will be a service held in the grounds at about 11am.

Marks Hall is situated on land that was part of Earls Colne airfield during the war.

Usually there is civilian glider that flies overhead after the service and also Apache helicopters from RAF Wattisham.

Stan - is this related to the Rhine Crossing?

I am of course referring to operation Varsity.

The 8th battalion The Royal Scots in 44 Brigade, 15 Scottish Division, were one of only three infantry battalions to be in an assault crossing of the three major obstacles in Western Europe: Seine, Rhine and Elbe. Does anyone know about the other two battalion?

Erik
