Jentz uses it in his Tiger books and it has a life of it's own on uber-panzer sites. I believe the source is given as either Aberdeen or The Patton Museum. Someone took a lot of trouble to try and fool us. It is not a modern creation and has been around for many years .
Cheers for the pictures M Kenny. Do you have any theories as to where the fake picture comes from and the motive etc etc. A bit of a who 'dunnit' ? Cheers Andy
I do not know why people do this. There are several examples about and this one made it into print. Being used by Jentz gave it an air of authority. Below is the fake IR Panther pic that also fooled Thomas Anderson who used it in his Concord book on the Panther Axis WWII Discussion Group: IR Panther KOed in Falaise Axis WWII Discussion Group: Fine Scale modeler: IR panther solution B thoughts?- Here is an example where I was the target: Axis WWII Discussion Group: New Tiger wreck "007" probably Fake picture !
M.Kenny Jentz uses it in his Tiger books and it has a life of it's own on uber-panzer sites. I believe the source is given as either Aberdeen or The Patton Museum. Someone took a lot of trouble to try and fool us. It is not a modern creation and has been around for many years . I just can't recollect seeing it before but from what you say it has "done the rounds". Sometimes we want to see what others show us and are willing to accept it as shown , people do things like this for their own ego and because they can. See what you mean - the 11 points do match .....the "wittmann link" , I believe it was the same road way I was up earlier this year. Like computer virus production it is a waste of time and talent.
His book is out in January 2015. http://www.schifferbooks.com/tigers-in-the-ardennes-the-501st-heavy-ss-tank-battalion-in-the-battle-of-the-bulge-5683.html
