    Hello Folks,

Here are three 1/76 models I completed this year. The first is a completely scratchbuilt Albion with a Milicast 3.7" AA. Second is an Airfix Scammell converted and detailed into an Pioneer R100 Gun Tractor with a Skytrex (Hinchchliffe) 7.2 " Gun and the third is the Airfix QLD converted to a QLB with scratchbuilt body and a Milicast Bofors AA Gun. All feature detailed interiors and the Albion has a scratchbuilt engine compartment.
    I hope you enjoy them.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Thanks for the kind comments gents. I get a lot of my inspiration from this Forum. I'm currently doing an early Matador and hope to pair it with a 60 pdr which I'm still awaiting from Matador Models. They will be finished in BEF markings and camo.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Lovely models, dunno how I missed this thread earlier.
Nice job, keep them coming .
Can we have some more pics of same models but from different angles?

For a 1/76 scale they are wonderfully detailed. Well done, keep up your good work.

You might even consider a diorama on the British in the Ardennes. Like this picture of the 51st Highland Division, which was taken just short of La Roche: Still viewer

Top standard by all means! And the Airfix Scamell is what, 50 years old? The QL slightly less, and Hichliffe is one of those glorious names from a gone past!

In short, congratulations from the sharpest and most wicked keyboard in this forum :)

Did I mention the bases? Lovely too!

    Fantastic Models.

All the tractors were once part of the Trux 1:76 range. Yours are much, much better. I look forward to more photos.

And look at the thread title. 1/76, not 1/72! Ratchet a further notch up for that :)

Thanks all, for your kind comments. Because most of these are Airfix based, I blog the builds on the Airfix Tribute Column under Mainroom - On The Workbench - Scratch-builds (Albion) and Conversion Corner (R100, QLB and the early Matador I'm currently building). There are progress photos posted there of each build.
The QLB is based upon the recent QLD of the QLD/QLT offering, not the early QL in the Refuelling kit. It is a much improved model and a good basis for conversion. Right after I scratcbuilt the QLB body, Milicast released a QLB conversion body for the new Airfix kit.....oh, Well!!

    Cheers,

Yes fantastic models and a real inspiration !!

Mike I am still building items I bought from you 12-14 years ago when I was at RAF Leuchars !! just completing your TRUX Austin K6 GS, recently I used the chassis cab wheels from a TRUX mated with a tipper body from BW a very pleasing result. MIKE you led the way mate with your kits , so don't ever put yourself down. Note the balloon winch next to the cup opf tea, it was attacked by a falling picture frame - but I am sure it will live to fight another day !! this was the desk a couple of weeks ago !!

    regards TED.

Thanks again gents and Mike, it just struck me who you were. Your kits were excellent. It's just that I like to really detail my models to look as close to real as possible. I'm currently trying to get a 60 pdr to go with my early Matador. I believe you made one. Is that the one now with Matador Models?....just curious.

    Cheers,

    Neilie,

Yes I have just looked at the Matador website. That is the 60pdr I passed on to them. I see that they are making a good start on the range of British WD 6 X 4 3tonners that started with Trux. They were nice but pigs to cast. The Leyland Terrier with 3" AA gun was an interesting one.

    Ted,

Did you ever get the balloon to go with your winch? They were rare birds. Only 20 made and I kept two. I will soon be posting a question about RAF Signals Vehicle Type Numbers. I have the lists of vehicle types landing on D Day and D+1. A bewildering array of which I can identify a small fraction.

Good modelling to you both (and all).

Mike, no I never got the balloon, I was recently so pushed for display space that I gave the local ATC Sqn the few RAF aircraft models that I had, to generate an empty shelf. I still have an operational balloon unit see attached. The Fordson Sussex Chassis cab is by Matador; I had to correct the too long wheelbase. I had your WOT1 winch kit in my stash; I modified the rear end of the winch body to represent the pre/early war version.
Re RAF sigs I have quite a bit of info which I will happily dig out and hopefully be able to fill some gaps for you.
    Regards TED
