Thomas William Edwards died while serving in the Royal Engineers in an accident on V.E Day 1945 and is buried in Venray War Cemetery Holland. The C.W.G.C does not mention what Field Company he was serving with is there any way of finding out ? A newspaper article mentions he was serving in the Movement Control Pool. Im trying to find out how he died and to see if the Accident gets a mention in a War Diary.Confusingly the article states that he died in Germany so why buried in Holland.
Izzy, through my own research, ive tended to find that those casualties that do not have units listed actually died of wounds etc, having been taken off strength of the unit that he was serving with. It is also possible that the accident happened in Germany, but the hospital etc was in Holland. I have also found the odd death cert that states more info that the CWGC list. P
Phil i usually find that most death certificates for Servicemen state died on war service.Did'nt think that there was anything new so have not gone down that route hence im trying to estsblish if there may be a mention in war diary.
