No your Grandad had brothers Les,George ,Tom ,William and sister Flo and Rose

 

Stan was Rose's Husband who sadly passed away about 2years ago

 

Sadly I didn't know about stan. He was a lovely man. Les was my grandad...so you are friends with William.....ive never met him nor even knew about him. I remember grandad talking about flo...

 

Yes William is 90 years old now and is still a very fit and young at heart 90 year old , William and his wife will be spending Christmas with me so I will tell him I have been in touch with you , Yes Flo Married an Officer from Falkirk Scotland and she to was in the forces 5 members of the same family was fighting for there country , William was called up and left home the same day they was told about Tom's Death and William's mother was at the front door crying saying please don't go ,its very sad to hear the story ,
If I remember right I think Les was in the desert and William speaks about him alot

 

Yes grandad was in the Northamptonshire regt...I remember grandad saying that flo was on the guns at Portsmouth I think. I am so very glad to get to spk to you. Yes please please let him know that you have spoken to me an that I am researching their war history...may be one day I'll get to meet him.

Yes maybe you will as I said William is a private man at heart and doesn't really open up unless you know him very well ,
But I will definitely tell him .
I'll see if I can get a copy of Tom's army photograph be nice to put a face to the name he was a nice handsome looking chap too

 

the youngest lad is Bill and the others are his brothers and their one sister Flo yes she was a Gunner during the War
this photograph was taken in Chadsmoor Cannock do you have any pictures of your Grandad Les and family i could show him?

 

I only have one of my grandad and nan. Which is at home on the wall...to which I will certainly send a picture but my granddad has passed in 2004

No problem I researched Thomas in the passed and showed William history about his brother and I'm sure you can imagine it has been emotional ,William was in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and he is on the roll of honour in Edinburgh castle and
William and his wife Cath have been to Thomas Graves couple of times

 

I also was in the army...I was in the Worcester and sherwood foresters for 6yrs...I am so proud to be a part of my family.

My brother was in the RAMC for 9 yrs too
