Can anyone help please with the details of my Father-in-Law Thomas John Prosser. He was born 11th June 1912 in Ebbw Vale, Wales. I've looked for any record but found nothing. I was wondering what battalion he served in with the South Wales Borderers and where he might have been posted, service number 3914939, he enlisted on the 27th February 1941.
Any information as usual is always appreciated.

You wont find much, if anything online unless he was injured, captured or killed, the best route is to obtain his service records which are only available from the MOD - link to forms is Request records of deceased service personnel

You will also need to obtain a copy of his death certificate to comply with data protection rules of today

PS my partners father was from South Wales and was always assumed to be in SWB, but in fact was in Somerset Light Infantry - its why service records are so important

Thanks Tricky Dicky, Do you know what A.B.P.O. stands for?

Not really and I guess with an Indian connection it may mean something different, but one meaning is Advanced Base Post Office

    Others may have other ideas
