Today is May 24th. 64 years ago was one of the most dramatic naval battles of WWII, if not history, the Battle of the Denmark Strait. HMS Hood, HMS Prince of Wales, HMS Suffolk, HMS Norfolk, vs KM Bismarck and KM Prinz Eugen. I'm sure everybody here knows what happened, Hood was blown up. She was truly a great ship, and I salute the brave men who sailed on her.

Yes indeed it was a terrible loss and the manner of her sinking was awful indeed. How many survived?

The Hood only had 3 survivors. Among them was Ted Briggs, who I believe is the sole living survivor. A great link to all things Hood is http://hmshood.com/ where Mr Briggs is quite active.

Yes Thomas Bismarck had 115 survivors, and I'm going to post a similar message on Friday, the anniversary of Bismarck's sinking.
