we are off decorating at the end of the month. will get out a couple of days to visit cemeteries and church yards. if anyone has a request in the Somme area, Thiepval to Arras to St Pol and Hesdin pm or reply here and will try to get photos of gravestones. WW1 and WW2.
I`m interested in LONDON CEMETERY AND EXTENSION LONGUEVAL (12 Headstones) and BUCQUOY ROAD CEMETERY, FICHEUX (30+) Sorry it would be a big request but even one off the total would be a huge help Kyle
Chaz, If it's not too late and not an imposition, I have a friend who would love to see a photo of her grandfather's headstone. I believe the location is 7-8 km from Thiepval. Private George Payne Died: October 9, 1916 Service Number:418225 Age:32 Force:Army Unit:Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment) Division:42nd Bn. Cemetery:REGINA TRENCH CEMETERY ; Somme, France Grave Reference: III. E. 29. The REGINA TRENCH CEMETERY lies about 1.5 km north-west of the village of Courcelette. On the D929 (Albert-Bapaume). Thanks for the offer!
will try , looking around driving 250kms for people at the moment. one thing to remember is Thiepval memorial is partially closed as its being tidied up for the 100 year memorial celebrations. this may also apply to other Somme memorials
Thanks for that Owen. Much appreciated. ...............................and a slight bout of embarrassment! Never thought to check that site.
Ive planned a route so if we can get near will get a few, usually give you a view or two of the churchyard./cemetery and a few views of the stone.
