I am planning to use scenes from this film on my October school battlefields tour to Arnhem. Unfortunately my treasured 'After the Battle' video version will not suffice now that all coaches are fitted only with DVD players. I know that it has been available on DVD but I can only find some hideously expensive second-hand versions on Amazon. Can anyone help?

There is an episode in the Battleline series on Arnhem.

Will have a look and see what is like.

See comments in What Last WW2 Movie/Series You Saw.

I was recently contacted by the great nephew of Brian Desmond Hurst who directed the film in 1945 with a few questions.....I was able to answer some of them and point him in the right direction for others, however he was looking for behind the scenes pictures from the time......there is hardly anything left in the family on this period of time......

I looked in Leading the Way to Arnhem and found on page 138 an uncredited photo...whilst I'm trying to find out where it came from, I was interested to see the WRAF officer (?) in the shot......does anyone know how many RAF or WRAF personnel were part of the 'Arnhem Film Unit'?

BTW the Arnhem Film Unit was the unit set up to help make the film and Rank had to pay £3 per day for each soldier (or perhaps serviceman or woman) to the War Office (Air Ministry?)

Final question for the NA rugrats....are there any files there on the film or the film unit?????

I have an article in dutch about the making of the film. The 'Arnhem Film Unit' were men from the 21th armygroup. There was further on a filmcrew from 20-30
people of the Gaumont Brittish Film Coy. There are more facts in the article and when I have the time I will translate it into English.
There were also German Prisoners of War who played in the film.

Further on there are pictures taken, shots out of the film. I have a few here.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Hello Jamie, this is taken straight from the Ebay advert:

    Interesting aluminium plaque.
"Theirs is the glory. This souvenir ticket is made of metal from one of the crashed gliders which carried the British 1st airborne division into battle at Arnhem on September 17th 1944. World Premiers. Britain-Holland-Canada September 17th 1946".
It was with the belongings of a WW2 RAF pilot officer Moss, so I have no reason to believe this this is anything other than genuine.

Careful!! It may be a copy? Ebay is flooded with fake stuff.

Cap badges have been copied for years. Even experts have trouble distinguishing them from originals!

The souvenir tickets were given to the 'actors' who took part in the film, all from 1st A/B Div. There were no Raff bods the film so it could be a tad dodgy!
