If sanctioned by the Quiz Supervisor, I will withdraw this question as there has been no action on it.

I am prepared to let any other member post the next question.

    Quiz supervisor's reply

A point not covered by the rules, which I will amend as soon as I can.

Seems OK to me, so the question is withdrawn and the quiz is open to allcomers for a new question.

Can you post the answer, or esle we will never know.

I'll jump in with a new question then.

Which World War Two head of state still holds a position of power in his government today?

Might that be Carlos Romulo, of the Philippines?

Incorrect. The person concerned was Head of State during World War Two and is alive and well today running the government of his country.

Correct answer. Simeon was Head of State of Bulgaria between 1943 on the death of his father Boris III and 1946 when he was ousted by the Communists. Now known as Simeon Saxecoburgski he was elected Prtime Minister of Bulgaria a couple of years ago, a position he still holds.

    Thanks spidge.

What was the informal name for the Allied air units operating from Henderson Airfield on Guadalcanal during the Solomons campaign?

I am going to hold off on this one however if it is what I am thinking of, the name in Australia would have a different meaning to that of the US.

By the way Dac, are you aware they are trying to change the name of Henderson Field again. They have already renamed it Honiara International / Henderson Field so it wont take much to drop it off the end!
