Alongside the usual discussions, I thought I'd try and add something on the Vickers machine gun to the body of knowledge on Operation OVERLORD. With the anniversary of Operation OVERLORD falling in June, I thought I'd move away from the technical details of the Vickers machine gun a little bit and discuss a little of how the guns were used in action. This can only be the broadest of coverage at the moment but will hopefully, if well received, become something I do more of in the future and we'll extend the videos to include more detail. For more information on the Divisional (Machine Gun) Battalions and the associated regiments, please go here: https://vickersmg.blog/in-use/britis...un-battalions/ This, and detail of the others units mentioned, can be found here: https://vickersmg.blog/in-use/britis...-british-army/ Many of the photos used in the video are from the Imperial War Museum's collection. Others are from our own resources.
Thanks for sharing. Just picked up a copy of this book so this video fits right in. The New Brunswick Rangers in the Second World War
That's great. Sadly shipping to the UK is CAD60.00 so prohibitive at the moment. I'll have to see whether it's something a family member can post on. SCRUB THAT: Found it on Amazon UK! Ordered and inbound!
