One thing about Russian equipment it was rugged and made to last.
Just like the Lada Samara we used to have.
    [It was Mrs D's Grandad's, ex-Royal Signals pre-war & WW2, he called it his T34]

In Bulgaria we still use cars like "Moskvich,Lada,Trabant,WV Turtle,Shkoda"
Can you balive that such an old car like trabant can do drifting? See for yourself: YouTube - Trabant drift :P

How much people do you think that can enter in the trabant ? 5 ? Nooo. 6? Nope. 7 but it will bearly move? Noo not 7 more. 9 people and im sure that no more? No. The right answer is 11 people..YouTube - trabant s 11 choveka

And you think the trabat is really weak car? No its not here is some proof YouTube - Trabant Rollover

I think all this show the best car enginering of the germans and the russians :D

    Dani,
    Love the Traby.
One of the interesting things about my only trip to Berlin in '92 was finally to see the infamous Trabant. Both working and broken down.
Later in Prague some of the old Skodas were stone-age!

I think all this is an example of the best car engineering of the Germans and the Russians :D

I think the Germans were the best engineers and the Russians good at mass production and stuff that just wouldn't wear out.

Did you come across any old German equipment? Mausers with little xs on them? Alot of mixed bag stuff from Zaphod Fabrika Werke?

In Norway there were racks and racks of service grade Mausers.

Used to have a skoda favorite which cost £250. Called it the KGB version, as the heater was good and you did not want the prisoners to catch the cold before they were shot!

Great car, only problem it cost £500 to fit a new prop shaft to the front right wheel.

Yes it is good car indeed but if you crush somewhere you could easy die because the car isn't as save as the new cars. The Bulgarians drive those cars not only because they are cheep but because they are easy to repair and hard to brake.I never drived Shkoda but i drived trabant and moskvich.

Great pics VP. 1911 forty five, a Thompson (does the grip look right or is it just the angle?), 2 30 cals, a 50 Cal ??, loads of ammo boxes, looks like 2 track tensioner spanners, tow rope, loads of small tools.

The intention wasn't to send shermans against panzers. That job was for the tank busting planes as well as anti-tank guns.

The proper use of tanks was against infantry as well as fixed positions.

The British did not learn this until El Alamein.

get it right ! The Sherman tank was probably the worst disaster of WW2. Up against the Panther the loss for a Panther was reckoned to be 5 to6 Shermans for one Panther, and ahellof a lot more for a Tiger. It burst into flames if you looked at it, and there was no way out.

Questions were asked in the US Congress about sending their men to die in such rubbish. it could not penetrate the enemy armour but was vulnerable to being knocked long before it got into range of the enemy, ANY enemy tank was superior even the old mark 1Vs

To be perfectly honest it was a a death trap. it could not kill the enemy and was an easy target..IT was CRAP! IT was tall so that the turret stood out like a sore thumb amongst the apple tree branches of the Normandy orchard's was a complete disaster.
It only saving grace was that there were an almost inexhaustible supply.
All the enemy arms were far superior to ours.
It was the courage of the fighting men that put up with this rubbish that won the battles.

Reminds me of Ernie, a commander of an AT unit armed with 57mm At guns. They were in Afrika and set up in an ambush position. Along came a Tiger and one of the 3 crews panicked, shot early. The Tiger didn't bother to fire, it just ran over them. Ernie and four others got away, barely. This is in reference to ineffective weapons systems.

Courage is aweys a vital point of any war ,also the mass production.

You have got it in one. the Sherman was designed for mass production from the start and so was easy to produce and maintain.
