    Di, my Grandfather (WW1 Navy veteran) worked on the Post Office underground railway in London all through the Blitz. He lived in Hornchurch and the (then) village was frequently bombed due to the nearby airfield. He was probably much safer at work!
    Another bit of research I must get round to some day.

    Sorry Di, I haven't got round to doing your Ilford and Rainham war memorial pics yet, got distracted with the plaque and Hornchurch airfield stuff (and work intrudes occasionally) do you still want them?
